Due to the internal promotion of our current Market Access Director we are looking for a highly talented individual who can lead our experienced team of Market Access professionals.

  • You will have a track record in enabling new medicines, medical devices or technologies to reach the patients that need them most by successfully navigating national decision-making processes and the challenges these present
  • You will have first class skills in leading and coaching teams, developing the next generation of Market Access professionals

Head of Policy & Public Affairs

Based in London with regular travel to our head office in Papworth Everard – Cambridgeshire

Salary range £70K – £90K + bonus + private medical insurance + life insurance + pension + EMI share scheme

MAP is looking for an Associate Director to join our fast growing and dynamic consulting business in a leadership role heading up our Policy and Public Affairs team. You will help to establish our London office and drive forward activities that accelerate patient access to new medicines, devices and diagnostics.

Ongoing training and development support is also provided and you will benefit from working as part of MAP’s multi-disciplinary team, working with experts in Market Access, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, Legal and Policy and Public Affairs.

You will provide strategic advice on access to medicines and lead political and policy analysis and stakeholder engagement activities on behalf of MAP and its clients. Experience and skills required:

  • Proven track record working in a health policy and public affairs consultancy role, including experience working with pharmaceutical industry, health charities and/or NHS bodies
  • Significant experience developing and delivering public affairs strategies and programmes for new medicines, medical technologies and/or devices
  • Strong relationships with key decision-makers
  • The ability to build strong relationships with clients and prospective clients
  • Experience of business development, including identifying opportunities and developing strategic proposals for policy and public affairs programmes
  • Experience of leading teams and client projects, including people development and budget management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – with the ability to lead client and policy-focused meetings and teleconferences; develop complex policy documents and reports; and prepare focused materials for political and policy-maker engagement
  • A nuanced understanding of the major issues and policy changes affecting the pharmaceutical industry and their potential impact on the introduction of new technologies on the NHS
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines, managing the needs of multiple clients
  • Meeting and event management skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office capabilities (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

Senior Clinical Writer

£50k-£70k Dependent on experience + Bonus + Benefits

As a Senior Clinical Writer, you will spend time developing and reviewing value communication materials alongside developing health technology assessment submissions. You will be a detailed researcher who is able to prepare advisory panels and documentation to support client launch activities. Experience of performing strategic literature reviews is a must and will enhance your appeal during the recruitment process.

You will take a proactive approach to the design and development of communication tools to support market access strategy, including taking innovative approaches to problems in collating, manipulating, analysing and describing data. A large percentage of your work will be working within the rare disease market, producing work of a high quality where there may be scarce data.

You will support the wider business in the development of, and participation in, strategic workshops to meet client needs, especially where there is a significant health clinical element or opportunity.

We are looking for an individual who has experience of reviewing and quality checking materials prepared by other writers. Your role will also include providing support for more junior and/or less experienced writers in a mentoring or training capacity.

As a senior member of the team you will have early project and client exposure where you will be monitoring and updating on individual projects and on overall projects and client tracking tool, where relevant to the project being directly worked on. You will have input into the development of proposals to continually grow the consultancy side of the business, if and when required to improve the content of the web based subscription service, MAP Online (www.maponline.com and www.mapmedtech.com) .

Health Economics Associate, Consultant and Senior Consultant

Salary depending on experience + Bonus + Benefits

With a rapidly growing and exciting workload, we are looking for individuals with Health Economics expertise to join our team.

The role includes:

  • Working with innovative approaches to health economic decision problems such as in rare diseases or where there are limited data – for BioPharma, MedTech and IVD clients
  • Strategic input to the design and operational development of health economic materials including:
    • Evidence review and synthesis
    • Statistical analysis
    • Health economic modelling
    • Health technology assessment submissions
    • Manuscript and report development
  • Support development and delivery of strategic workshops to meet client needs, especially where there is a significant health economics element or opportunity
  • Support clients in development of their pricing strategy using analogues and changes in health policy, as well as the experience of the management team
    • Including pricing submissions to the UK Department of Health & Social Care (DHSC) and its equivalent in other countries
  • Management of global projects or workstreams within projects, including coaching of junior members of the team
  • Management of key client relationships with the support of senior management
  • Support the board of management in development of proposals to continuously grow the consulting side of MAP BioPharma
  • Support the continuous improvement of content of the web-based subscription service operated by MAP BioPharma (www.mapbiopharma.com and www.mapmedtech.com)
  • Actively engage in the process to develop the role in an appropriate way to maintain personal development and commitment to the business
  • Options for this role to develop – subject to the individual’s personal aims and objectives include but are not limited to:
    • Policy & Public affairs – engaging with UK and Ireland and EU governments on matters relating to pricing, health economics and market access policy
    • Academic engagement – developing and maintaining a network of contacts in academia to provide a resource for MAP in the future

About you:

  • Masters qualification in Health Economics or relevant discipline
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to explain complex concepts in understandable terms with client facing experience
  • Ability to independently manage tasks, including excellent time management and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at any given time
  • Experience and knowledge of working within NICE guidelines and methods for HTA submissions is desirable
  • Relevant health economics experience either in-house, within consultancy or HTA organisation
  • High attention to detail with strong quantitative and numerical skills with competencies using Excel (VBA), STATA, R, TreeAge or similar software packages
  • Experience and knowledge of health economic modelling for HTA submissions
  • Excellent command of the English Language both verbally and in writing

MAP Online Content Researcher & Writer

£18k-£35k Depending upon experience + Bonus + Benefits

We are looking for a researcher/writer with an interest in current events and health policy, who genuinely wants to make a difference to patients’ lives. If you have experience of gathering information via news sites, newsletters, government agencies and you are able to assimilate that information, rewrite it and make it easy to understand, then this is the role for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Researching and writing content for our MAP Online knowledge portal as well as validating existing content
  • Support the curation of our newsletters, podcasts, webinars and blog posts

You should have:

  • Experience in researching source material and writing articles covering key developments in policy, regulation, and industry, preferably for a web platform
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to assess what is relevant and what is not
  • A 2:1 degree or above in a scientific, medical or English-elated subject
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
